BBMP Trade License

A trade license furnishes permission towards the applicant (individual looking to open a business) in order to start a particular trade or business in a specific area or location. Though, the license doesn’t allow the holder to any other trade or business other than for which it has been issued. Also, this license does not pass on any kind of property ownership to the holder of the license. 

Trade licenses are issued by the licensing department of the municipal corporation in numerous departments like industries, engineering, health etc. The government of India authorizes the license by the way of letters or documents/certificates in order to conduct any business or trade where it is located. The issuance of the license differs from state to state reliant on the local government agencies (Municipals) rule and regulations.

Trade license like the BBMP trade license (BBMP stands for Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) was issued in India for the last 40 years. In every state of India, a trade license is controlled by municipal corporation acts that were passed by the respective state governments.

BBMP trade license is obligatory for all type of manufacturer industries in Bangalore those who are carrying out their business in the state of Karnataka.

Eligibility for a BBMP Trade License

•    The applicant should have crossed the age of 18 years

•    The applicant should not have any criminal records

•    The business should be lawfully permissible.

Documents required for Trade License according to BBMP

With the intention of applying for a BBMP trade license, the applicant must make an application and submit the same towards the concerned Municipal Corporation along with each of the necessary documents.

There are few documents that essential to be provided, which includes;

•    Application in the prescribed Form

•    In case the applicant is any Firm, LLP or a Company, their PAN Card, along with the incorporation certificate.

•    For an individual applicant, his/her Aadhaar Card is compulsory.

•    PAN card and certificate of incorporation in case you are a firm, company, or Limited liability partnership.

•    Latest Municipality Property Tax Payment Receipt.

•    Lease documents or consent letter from the property owner

•    NOC from your immediate neighbour

•    A certified layout plan of the trade building showing the business, working or washing or resting areas

•    Katha extracts

•    Katha certificate

•    Sanction plan

•    Occupancy certificate (OC)

•    NOC from the pollution control board

BBMP Trade License registration procedure

The steps to be followed in order to get a BBMP Trade License are:

•    An applicant must prepare documentation in order to make an applicant for BBMP Trade License

•    Then the applicant must make online application towards the concerned authority

•    Submit acknowledgement to the local municipality corporation

•    Authority shall come for a physical inspection

•    Then the applicant must make payment of the government fees

•    After successfully completing all the steps, an applicant shall get a trade license certificate

Trade license Renewal 

The trade licenses in India are renewed in between 1st January to 31st March. The validity of a license that is issued by the municipal authority is for a period of 1 year and it must be renewed every year.

The application relating to the renewal of the license is required to made within 30 days from the date of its expiry. If the renewal procedure is delayed, then it might attract fine relying on the rules and regulation of the issuing authority.

The documents required to be submitted for BBMP Trade License are–

•    Original copy of the trade License;

•    Preceding year challans;

•    Up to date property tax paid receipt.

Online Trade License Renewal

The steps to be followed for the online BBMP Trade License Renewal are;

 1: An applicant must enter bbmp.gov.in in browser 

2: Then the applicant must click on Trade License 

3: Then click on Online Trade License (For Public)

4: The applicant is required to read and accept the terms and condition and click on Continue for the online BBMP Trade License Renewal

5: Then select Search by Previous Application Number 

6: The applicant must enter the Application No and click on Search 

7: It would show the applicant’s previous year trade details 
8: Then click on Confirm and details gets saved 

Payment

There are 3 Options for payment relating to the BBMP trade license, which includes;

Online Payment: Once the applicant has saved the Application, select the payment gateway type and click on Proceed to Payment. 

At MOH Office/Bank: Once the applicant has saved the Application, download the application through clicking on Save & pay later at MOH/Bank office. 

Submit the Application form at MOH /Bank along with DD/Cheque /Cash (in case the trade fee is below Rs 1000)

Penal provisions

If an individual fails to comply with the registration requirements of BBMP Trade License and commencing any trade activity before the issuance of this license, the individual in the default would be liable to pay the prescribed penalty. Also, legal action could also be taken against the defaulter.
