GSTR- 3B Return filed by GST Taxpayers in a Staggered Manner

The Finance Ministry said that GST taxpayers can file their GSTR-3B returns in a staggered manner Due to some difficulties faced by trade and industry in the filing of returns. The government has decided to introduce several measures to simplify the process.

Currently, the last date of filing GSTR-3B returns for every taxpayer is 20th of every month. From now on, Around 8 lakh regular taxpayers would have the last date of GSTR-3B filing as 20th of every month without late fees. Thus, the last date for filing of GSTR-3B for the taxpayers having annual turnover of Rs 5 crore and above in the previous financial year would be 20th of the month.

This category would have about 49 lakh GSTR-3B filers who would now have 22nd of every month as their last date for filing GSTR-3B returns.

For the Second Category with 46 lakh taxpayers who belongs from the 22 States or Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Jharkhand Laddakh, Bihar, Sikkim, Delhi,  Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Punjab, and Odisha having annual turnover less than Rs 5 crore in previous financial year will now be having last date of filing the GSTR-3B as on  24th  of the month without charging any late fees.
The Finance Ministry said that the mandatory notification in this view would be published later by the competent authority.

The Finance Ministry has also said that it has also taken note of difficulties and concern expressed by the taxpayers in the process of filing GSTR-3B and other returns.
