In addition to his importer/manufacturer license, every importer who wishes to serve as a weights and measures dealer must obtain the dealer license.

  • Producers or sellers will need approval from the Director of Legal Metrology, GOI, to register as an importer.

  • The application must be submitted to the Director of Legal Metrology in the recommended format, through the State Controller, at least one month before the import, along with the required fee of Rs. 100. The application will be forwarded by the Controller along with a report on the importer's technical capabilities and predecessors. A five-year registration period is followed by automatic renewal.
